Tinder Consents 2021 |
---|
Did you just get sent a message like this: ![]() Well, apparently a lot of people have. Here in Netherlands I received it, and as you can see from the image, I couldn’t even click on ‘details’. According to a Reddit post a bunch of US users received it as well. They were able to click the link which took them to a random Korean website. Plus the final line to consent mentions your data being sent out of Korea. I have never been to Korea… So what the hell is this? Well, the optimist in me maybe likes to think it is Tinder trying to be upfront in that they are collecting your data (which site/app isn’t these days?), but then the more I think about it the more uneasy I feel about it. It really ultimately seems like Tinder doesn’t give a f*ck. I almost read this message as: “We’ve got you in the palm of our hands so we’re gonna sell the f*ck out of your data and there’s nothing you can do about it.” Then my paranoia starts to ask, “Or is this a scam?” So really, the answer is I’m not sure what this is just yet. I stupidly consented just to see what happens, but I suggest that maybe you don’t. Perhaps it’s time to move on from Tinder and give Bumble, Hinge or even eHarmony (if you’re looking for something a little more serious) a go. |
